Trump’s awful reaction to Charlie Kirk’s murder

Charlie Kirk’s murder was a tragedy for our nation. Nearly every Democratic leader that I saw condemned political violence and stopped right there.

And yet Trump showed his true stripes last night with that horrid speech that he made condemning political violence, yes, but then attempting to blame it on others, namely, his perception of the radical left.

It’s almost as if he can’t help himself or maybe it is his true self? I haven’t forgotten the “many fine people” speech he made after Charlottesville. Have you?

We heard Kirk’s hateful and divisive rhetoric. We heard his noxious and vile othering of people with positions he happened to disagree with.

Trump is a menace with a bully pulpit, and I shudder to think who might follow his advice. We’ve already seen several examples in the last days and weeks of Democratic or left-leaning politicians being gunned down or assaulted in public. I guess Trump thinks they don’t count. But they do matter, as much as Charlie Kirks, tragic killing matters.

Trump’s dangerous rhetoric does not help.
